The Samsung Smart Home | Platform To Control Home Appliance via Smartphone

The Samsung Smart Home platform is the home automation service allows smartphone users to control their home appliances and TVs from a single app, it was announced at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, it has started its global rollout and will first be made available in Korea, followed by the US, with other countries to follow.

The platform enables users to easily manage their connected appliances and devices, including TVs and washing machines -- from a single app as long as they are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Samsung says you'll be able to tell your TV remote control "good night" and this will automatically trigger other connected devices, such as smart lightbulbs, to automatically turn off.

This particular functionality, however, will only be added in the second half of the year. Samsung plans to expand its Smart Home platform to other devices in its portfolio, including robot vacuum cleaners and its Gear Fit.

In Korea, the platform will work on all its 2014 smart TV models, its Q9000 air conditioner, the Bubbleshot 3 W9000 washing machine, the Gear 2, and smartphones that run Android 4.0 and above.

For the US market, compatible products include the Samsung Smart French Door refrigerator, its Smart Front Loading Washing Machine, all its 2014 smart TV sets, the Gear 2, and handsets with Android 4.0 and above.
